Ecology and respect for the motu

For nearly twenty-five years, every choice has aimed at modern comfort without upsetting the fragile balance of the coral world, wildlife, flora and local way of life. Ecology is not a slogan: it is the project's first concern.

Ecology

Materials and on-site renovation

Rather than demolish to rebuild, the motu's structures were renovated. Local materials are preferred whenever possible, to limit outside imports and keep the authenticity of the place.

Solar power and rainwater

Electricity comes from solar, with a generator only for exceptional backup. Comfort water comes from rainwater stored from the roofs; the freshwater lens is drawn on only minimally.

Food and waste

Vegetables and honey come as far as possible from nearby thoughtful growing; fish and seafood are local. Waste is sorted: some feeds the soil or shoreline fish, the rest goes to the village recycling centre.

Essentials for your stay

  • Solar electricity first.
  • Rainwater for lodge comfort.
  • Waste sorting and local supply chains.
