Booking terms
These terms apply to stays at Fafarua Private Island & Lodge. They reflect the rules published by TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island EURL. Keep them with your confirmation. Detailed rates are on the package pages.

Stay framework
The island is rented exclusively and can host 2 to 8 guests. Children are welcome from the age of twelve. The minimum stay is 3 nights. Rates are all taxes included. Rates do not include third-party diving or other providers; chargeable drinks from our list (wines, champagnes, beers, spirits and soft drinks billed separately — price list on request). You may bring your own alcoholic drinks; a corkage fee then applies. Two packages are offered: full board or Fafarua experience. Check-in from 2 pm; check-out until 11 am. Early check-in and late check-out may be possible depending on availability and may be charged.
Booking payment
New bookings: full payment when arrival is two calendar months or less away; over two months and up to one year inclusive, 50% at booking and the balance one month and one week before arrival; over one year, 30% at booking, 40% three calendar months before arrival and the balance one month and one week before arrival. Existing agreed booking terms are preserved. An option without immediate payment holds the dates for 5 days. The deposit invoice is sent by email. If that deposit is not paid before the end of the option, the dates go back on sale. Each installment paid by American Express carries a 2.5% surcharge. No additional Amex processing cost is passed on to you.
Reservation conditions
All deposits are non-refundable upon receipt. Your booking is confirmed after the first contractual payment is received: 100% when arrival is two calendar months or less away, 50% over two months and up to one year inclusive, or 30% over one year. For the latter, 40% is then due three calendar months before arrival and the remaining 30% one month and one week before. For the 50/50 contract, the remaining 50% is due one month and one week before. The two-month threshold and the three-month installment use calendar months. Missed payment deadlines cancel the booking without refund of amounts already paid. We will try to contact you before taking these steps and to remind you of amounts due. Please keep your contact details up to date.
Changing your booking
All booking changes are handled case by case at the discretion of TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island management. Any deposit is non-refundable. Once confirmed, a change in guest numbers cannot lead to a refund of amounts received. Any increase in guests, within our capacity, will adjust the price according to current rates. Date changes may only be considered subject to availability and our written agreement.
Force majeure
If the stay becomes impossible due to war, terrorism, epidemic or major weather events (hurricane, cyclone, tsunami), or if your government advises against travel for security reasons, we will try to help postpone your holiday to a later date subject to availability. If you leave early because of extreme weather, we will try to offer equivalent dates for the days lost. TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island EURL is not responsible for cancellations resulting from the Client’s default. In all cases, no refund of deposit amounts will be due.
Changes and cancellations by the lodge
TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island EURL, through its manager, reserves the right to change or cancel a booking in whole or in part if conditions prevent satisfactory performance. The Client will be notified as soon as possible. Changes offered to the Client (who need not accept them) are free of charge. If no alternative is offered, or the Client refuses, the Client may cancel. The Manager will then cancel with a refund of amounts received, or a pro-rata refund of the remaining prepaid stay if already begun. The lodge cannot be held liable for compensation for a change that does not lead to cancellation. Liability on cancellation is limited to the refunds stated above.
Liability and disputes
Safes are provided for personal belongings, valuables and documents; TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island EURL accepts no liability for loss or theft. The lodge is not liable for loss or damage beyond its control. You must take out suitable insurance. The lodge is not required to make payments other than the refunds set out in these terms. Any dispute arising from these terms falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of French Polynesia. For performance of these terms, the parties elect domicile at the registered office of TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island EURL in French Polynesia.
Check-in, check-out and contact
Check-in from 2 pm and check-out by 11 am. Subject to availability and confirmation, early check-in or late check-out with lunch can be arranged for an additional 4,000 XPF per person. The team confirms the time and total charge before acceptance.
House rules on the motu
A family stay in a remote setting like the Tikehau atoll can be very appealing. Everything on the island is arranged for a pleasant stay in an environment that remains demanding for non-natives of the archipelago. We ask guests for calm, quiet and respect for the place. Yelling, arguments and aggression are not tolerated at any age. Parents remain responsible for supervising children (buildings, grounds, unsupervised swimming, excursions). Natural hazards include coral, coconut trees and falling coconuts, and unsupervised swimming. The island is about 30 minutes by boat (calm seas) from the village clinic (no doctor on the island), then one hour by plane from the nearest hospital in Tahiti. Use of paddleboards, kayaks, fins and masks is under parental responsibility. Facilities reflect more than twenty years of work; respectful use is required. Rooms must be used according to normal occupancy. Remote supply means the chef adapts constantly; “special children’s” meals are hard to guarantee — contact us before booking. Water and electricity require careful use. For these reasons, after ten years of experience, we no longer accept children under 12. Families with children aged 12 and over are welcome, adapting to the motu’s house rules.
